Peel is a technique used for improving the texture of the
skin. It is a process where exfoliation of the dead skin takes place from the outermost layer of the skin resulting in peeling of the layers.
Type of Peels
- Superficial Peel- Acts on the top layer of the skin ie epidermis and gives instantly brighter as well as smoother texture. Contains usually AHA & BHA (alpha hydroxyl & beta hydroxy acids) and includes glycolic acid, lactic acid and salicyclic acid.
- Medium depth peels- Penetrates deeper into the skin. These are TCA ( Trichloroacetic acid ) derived peels. Used for sun damage, pigmentation and wrinkles
- Deep Peel – Strongest type of chemical peel for deeper lines and wrinkles and stubborn pigmentation. Contains carbolic acid (Phenol peels) or high strength TCA to penetrate the dermal layers of skin.
